Where and when was Kiki born?

Kiki was born in Bradford, England on the 6th March 1947, and lived in the Little Horton district of Bradford.


What was Kiki's first record?

"Early Night" on the Fontana label in 1963.


When was her first public appearance?

The earliest appearance so far recorded was In Bradford at the age of 10-11, when she took part in a "Spot The Stars" contest and won it. Her professional debut is at the moment unknown.


How many labels has Kiki recorded for?

kiki has recorded for 6 labels in Britain, Fontana, Tamla Motown, Rocket Records, Ariola, E.M.I./Columbia and Tickety-Boo


How much of her work is still available/

The only available material at present is the "Almost Naked" and "Where Rivers Meet" CDs on the Tickety-Boo label. In the UK these are available through your local record store. For the rest of the world they are available direct from Kiki and Carmelo on their site http://www.kikiandcarmelo.com/ or Tickety-Boo below.

Also available is a video of Kiki and Carmelo performing "Where Rivers Meet" live. This is available from Tickety-Boo, as are the CDs, http://www.tickety-boo.com/kiki/

Kiki has also appeared as a guest artist on Tony Moore's CD, "Everything's OK". This is a private pressing at the moment and is available at Tony's web site, http://www.tony-moore.com/

Finally Kiki and Carmelo have donated a track to the "Language Of Women" charity compilationm CD. This is available from Chequer Mead Theatre & Arts Center, info@chequermead.org.uk
What about Kiki's early material?

All her records upto 1995 are now deleted, though the CDs; "The Very Best Of Kiki Dee" and "Amoureuse", both compilations, are easily available through places like e-bay.

There was a record company, Reveree, set up in the US several years ago by Jeffrey Osbourne, who promised to re-release a re-mastered version of all her material including some long forgotten archive material. This issue was to cover her releases from 1963 on Fontana, through Tamla, Rocket, Ariola and E.M.I./Columbia and up to 1995 to include a revised version of "Almost Naked". Amoungst the other projected material to be released were several concerts, to be relaesed on both CD and DVD, along with two long-lost albums that were never released, "Cage The Songbird" from 1976 and "Two Sides To Every Story" in 1982/3. Jeffrey Osborn is still hoping to release this material, and a further announcement is expected soon.


How many songs has Kiki recorded?

At present there are 39 singles, 3 EPs, 9 LPs and 2 CDs. There are also other albums where she has guested. In total up to the moment she has recorded some 173+ tracks to her credit.


How many langauages has Kiki sung in?

Most of Kiki's foreign language records were released in the sixties, when she sung in 4 languages, English, French, German and Italian. She has added Hindi to this list, in the nineties, on "Where Rivers Meet".


Has Kiki every represted Britain abroad in song contests?

Kiki has represented Britain on three occassions. In 1965 she appeared at the San Remo International Song Festival in Italy, where she came second. In 1971 she appeared at the Cerbul De Aur in Roumania, and finally in 1980 she appeared at the Toyko International Song Festival, where she was awarded Outstanding Performance Award.


Has Kiki ever won any music awards in Britain?

Kiki won the Best UK Female Artist awards given by N.M.E., two years on the run as well as winning the Best UK Female Artist by Sounds. She has also been highly praised by such artist as Scott Walker and David Bowie.


Apart from her current collaberator, Carmelo, who else has Kiki worked with in the past?

She obviously worked with Elton John, giving him his first number one in the UK, but has also worked alongside Dusty Springfield, Alice Cooper, The Eurythmics (Dave Stewart produced some tracks for her), Tom Jones, Gerry Marsden, Tom Robinson and recently with Tony Moore.
